WHC Hire Supports Mates In Mind for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

WHC Hire Services is proud to announce that it is supporting Mates In Mind to raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024.

Mates in Mind is a leading UK charity raising awareness and addressing the stigma of poor mental health. They exist to promote and lead on the development of positive mental wellbeing within the workplace. Mates in Mind works across industries, focusing on construction, as well as related sectors including transport, logistics, manufacturing, and others.

They aim to provide clear information to employers about the available support and guidance on mental health and wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.

An independent study conducted in 2022 with Opinium showed that 68% of the public are not aware that there is a mental health problem in the construction sector and that there are 507 suicides per annum within the industry, with 49% being unaware that there is a stigma on sites which stops workers from talking about it.

WHC is taking this opportunity in 2024 to raise awareness for this just cause, week commencing 13th May. Many workers within the construction industry are still unsure where they can access help and support with their mental health. Therefore, WHC hopes to encourage clients and supporters to reach out to charities like Mates in Mind for help should they feel they need it.

Please feel free to join along on our social media platforms to get involved in spreading the word about Mental Health Awareness Week commencing 13th May.

MD James Clutterbuck said, “We’ve always put the welfare of all our staff at the forefront of everything we do. Especially when it comes to mental health. But still, it is evident, that across our industry the standards and awareness are still in desperate need. That’s why WHC are delighted to be supporting Mates In Mind this year from their continued efforts for Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. Over the last 24 months, we have trained 9, level 3 mental health first aiders throughout our business to offer continual support to all our members of staff. Raising awareness of mental health in the construction industry is something that I am passionate about supporting, and I hope that our efforts will offer some help to any of our clients or supporters out there who are seeking help. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in spreading this message on our social pages during Mental Health Awareness Week.”
