Hello everyone and welcome back to our dumper series, and in today’s video, I’m going to take you through the daily operators checks for one of these, 550 Kubota track dumpers from WHC Hire.

This video is going to cover all the visual checks and all the engine checks that you should be doing on a day to-day basis to ensure this machinery is in tiptop condition.

Let’s start with those visual checks, what we’re going to do is take a slow walk around the machinery and check for any damage or any leakages/spillages that are coming off the machine.

Starting on the left-hand side, we’ll check out the skip. Then following down. We’ll check that the tracks are in good condition. Then check the housing of the engine itself, and the console, so that there’s no damage around the console. Then coming down the right-hand side. When we get to the middle, we can check the lifting mechanism. Check for leakages from any of the hoses that are just pointing out inside the machine. Then we can check the tracks on the right-hand side, as well as, the right-hand side of the skip.

Now once we’ve conducted these visual checks, we can now move on to our engine checks, before getting the machine ready to start. What we need to do, is go to the rear of the machine, and open up the bonnet of the dumper. Follow me and I’ll show you how.

Right then, let’s start with these engine checks. The first thing we need to do before opening this bonnet up is drop the footplate so we can expose the engine a little bit easier. Now we’re going to open the bonnet by pushing the key lock, which will lift up the handle for us to drop the bonnet outwards.

We’re going to start with our fuel levels now. The fuel filler cap is on top of the engine. Then just down on the right-hand side, we’ve got the battery isolator. Just towards the back of the machine, we’ve got our oil dipstick. Then, the final fluid check we need to do is the hydraulic fluid. On this machine, now, to access that we need to open up part of the console. You’ll see on the right-hand side of the lower part of the console, there is a little lever that we turn to the left. That will pull part of the console out of the way, where we can see the hydraulic fluid level indicator, just there.

Once we’ve completed these checks, ensure that you lock and close all the caps correctly, and secure the bonnet into the correct position.

Now the machine is ready to begin its startup sequence and you’re ready to get your project underway. Those are the pre-operational start checks that you should be doing on one of these 550 tracked dumpers from WHC Hire. Now in the event that you come into any problems whilst conducting any of these checks, then please feel free to contact your local depot as soon as possible, so we can ensure that the machinery is safe for you to use.

For any more help and guidance on operating the equipment, then please feel free to scan the QR code that you’ll find located on the equipment. Thank you ever so much for joining me in this tutorial video, and until the next one, take care and bye-bye for now.
