How We Deliver Equipment At WHC Hire Services
One of the greatest benefits of working with WHC Hire is our outstanding delivery service. Our team of professional drivers are committed to ensuring you receive your equipment on time and as promised. WHC regularly updates its fleet of transport vehicles to reduce the risk of delays whilst out in the field. Overall, this gives you peace of mind when trusting us to deliver your essential equipment. In this article, we will walk you through how we deliver equipment at WHC Hire Services. We’ll explain how we transport your machinery, what equipment we use, how delivery costs are calculated and more. By the end of this guide, you’ll have a clear idea of the entire process and how to get started with arranging a delivery.
How Is Delivery Cost Calculated at WHC Hire Services?
The delivery costs of your machinery will be calculated by the WHC depot you are hiring from. Please note: Some large equipment may need to travel from a neighbouring depot. (Speak directly to your depot manager about this.) Nevertheless, the cost of delivery is determined by these four main factors:
Size & Weight Of Machinery – This refers to the equipment you are ordering. Different delivery vehicles will be used to transport your equipment based on its size and weight.
Distance – This refers to the distance between the depot and the delivery location. You will be asked to provide this when you enquire.
Fuel Rates – Fuel rates in the UK rise and fall weekly, however, WHC Hire is committed to providing a consistent charge for the cost of fuel. We advise you to request a quote for delivery each time you hire from us.
Movement Order Notices – For some large equipment, movement order notices will need to be submitted before the machinery is dispatched. This will be completed in-house by the WHC Hire team, however, this will incur an admin charge.
Once our team combine these factors, they will be able to provide you with a delivery quote which will be valid for up to 30 days.
What Types Of Delivery Vehicles Do We Use At WHC Hire Services?
One of the major factors in terms of determining delivery cost is the machinery used to transport your equipment. To deliver equipment at WHC Hire Services we provide a wide range of transport services to ensure the safe transport of your machinery. Here is a list of the different delivery vehicles we use:
Van
The smallest hire equipment can be transported by using one of our vans. This normally covers machinery up to around 300kg. Examples of this would include vibrating plates, breakers, etc.
Trailer
The next type of delivery method WHC Hire uses to transport equipment is via a trailer. This enables our teams to transport machinery with a maximum allowable mass of 3500kg. Often, this is the preferred method to transport small plant machinery like mini diggers, tracked barrows, etc.
18T Beavertail
For larger plant and earthmoving equipment, WHC Hire will use an 18T beavertail lorry. These machines are designed to transport both wheeled and tracked machines to their required location. These lorries can also be used to transport multiple machines at one time. Ideal for customers wishing to hire multiple small machines for their projects.
32T Beavertail
For machinery over 6T, WHC Hire uses a 32T beavertail lorry. This accommodates for earthmoving equipment up to and including 14T. Again, multiple pieces of machinery can be transported on this type of vehicle to accommodate clients’ needs.
Low Loader
The largest transport vehicle we offer at WHC Hire is our low loader. This vehicle is designed to transport extra-large machinery that is unsuitable for movement on a 32T beavertail. Some of the equipment transported with this vehicle may require a movement order notice to be completed. Find out more about how we handle these in the section further below.
What To Expect From The WHC Hire Delivery Team?
When you choose our in-house team to deliver equipment from WHC Hire, your booking will be allocated to one of our professional drivers. All our lorry drivers at WHC Hire hold a Class 1 HGV licence, enabling them to operate all the vehicles within our fleet. Additionally, all staff have been trained to move, load and secure all plant equipment available from our depots.
Once your equipment has been picked, it will be loaded and secured ready for transport. From there, our team will make their way to the destination you have allocated when booking your equipment.
When our team arrive at your destination, they will unload the equipment for you in a safe location. It is vital that if you have any access restrictions, you inform us during the initial time of booking.
Once they have unloaded the machinery, our team will be required to take several photos of the equipment. This is to monitor any damage (if any) that occurs during your hire period. Thereafter, they will ask you to sign for the delivery of the equipment which is done digitally.
On-Site Support
At this point, our delivery team will ask you if you would like a run-through of the machinery. Of which, operators are open to accept or decline? We highly recommend that if you have never used a particular machine before, to take advantage of this free service. Thereafter, our delivery driver will be able to show you how to access our award-winning digital self-help service, QR Enabled. (Available on most WHC plant equipment). Using this free online service will help troubleshoot 90% of the most common operating errors with your machinery.
Following this, our delivery team will then depart leaving you to get the job done with your newly hired equipment. It is important to note that collection cannot be organised through your delivery driver. You need to directly contact the WHC depot you ordered your equipment from to arrange to do so.
Handling Movement Order Notices at WHC Hire Service?
In some instances, large machinery may require a movement notice to be completed. When you choose us to deliver your WHC Hire equipment, we’ll submit all movement applications for you.
It is vital to note that abnormal load notice orders take a minimum of 2 clear working days (Mon-Fri) to clear by Highways England. Therefore, if you are requesting the use of extra-large equipment, be sure to book it in plenty of time. The same process should be adopted when off-hiring the machinery.
If you have any further concerns about the delivery of abnormal loads from WHC Hire Services, please contact our headquarters in Tewkesbury on 01684377977.
