WHC Celebrates Women in Construction Week 2024

WHC Hire is celebrating Women in Construction Week 2024 to support the promotion of Women throughout the construction industry. WIC week is held on the first full week of March since 1998. NAWIC was originally founded back in 1953 by 16 women in the construction industry working in a male-dominated field. It gained its national charter in 1955 and now has over 115 chapters across the US, as well as, several international affiliates. The core purpose of the foundation’s existence is the educate, strengthen and amplify women in the construction industry.

WHC Hire currently employs several women in various roles that play vital roles in the business. To raise awareness of this just cause, WHC is creating behind-the-scenes content of “a day in the life of a Women in plant hire industry”. We will be handing over to our NVQ award winner Melody Halford, who will be aiming to inspire more women to get involved in plant hire. Keep your eyes peeled on our socials for more. See more here.

“Mel” joined WHC Hire in September 2018 as a hire desk assistant, after a previous career in hairdressing, in and around the Cheltenham area. Being brought up around bikes and tools all her life, the plant hire industry was almost home from home. See more about Melody’s NVQ award here.
