WHC Hire Appointed as Member Of CITB Steering Group
We are happy to announce that our Compliance Manager Gerry Knowles CMIOSH has been appointed as a member of the newly formed Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Employers Network Steering Group, for Swindon, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire.
This comes after the recent creation of CITB’s new training booking system Employers Network.
Employer Network has been set up to offer employers easy access to training and training providers. The system is funded through the current training grants system which will continue to support the construction industry.
The regional steering groups have been set up give employers a direct channel to communicate their training needs and how funding should be prioritised and allocated in their local area to CITB. Additionally, they enable CITB to be more responsive to industry needs on both local and national levels.
The regional steering groups have a remit to look at the training needs within the construction industry both in their region and in general. Meeting every three months, the group aim to widen the number and scope of training courses, that are funded by CITB.
In addition, they will also look to encourage more employers to take up the grant funding that is available for their employees training through the levy scheme. The group will also look to encourage more people to enter the construction industry.
MD James Clutterbuck said, “Training is one of the fundamental pillars that we harness at WHC Hire. For many years we have leveraged the funding provided by CITB to train many of our staff. I am delighted that Gerry has been appointed as a member of the steering group. His valuable insight into the hire industry will ensure that essential training can remain funded, whilst highlighting the needs of many businesses alike. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with CITB and other peers appointed in the group”.
