WHC Hire Deploys First Fully Electric Service Van to Support Construction Clients
WHC Hire Services is proud to announce that it has taken further steps toward a lower-carbon future with the introduction of its first all-electric service vehicle.
This brand new investment marks the beginning of WHC Hire’s strategy to modernise its service operations with greener, energy-efficient vehicles that deliver real results in our fast-paced industry. This vehicle will primarily be used to support breakdowns, maintenance, and servicing while producing zero tailpipe emissions.
Many major construction businesses rely on WHC Hire Services to provide rapid, expert support to keep their projects moving. With the introduction of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, WHC now delivers the same reliable, timely response with significantly reduced environmental impact. This shift in operation supports the growing industry demand for sustainable working practices.
James Clutterbuck, Managing Director of WHC Hire Services, commented:
“Our major utility and construction clients rely on us 365 days a year to provide responsive and reliable equipment. Not only do we go into great detail when selecting plant machinery, but also when we invest in our support vehicles. This new EV service vehicle provides us with a modern, highly efficient solution to align our operation with the environmental standards of today’s construction projects. While there is still a way to go in terms of infrastructure with EV vehicles, WHC is continuing to invest to future-proof how we service our clients.”
The ID. Buzz has been customised to suit WHC’s mobile division, offering over 250 miles of range, rapid DC charging capabilities, and an optimised load space for carrying equipment needed to service our fleet.
With even more major contractors now emphasising environmental performance, WHC’s adoption of EV service vehicles strengthens our role as an innovative, responsible supply partner. This has also recently been reinforced by investing in 26 new Groundhog Eco Pulse mobile welfare units to reduce emissions on long-term projects.
