WHC Hire help raise nearly £24,000 for Help For Heroes – Malvern Challenge Update

On Saturday 18th September 2021, WHC Hire Services aided in support of the Malvern Hills challenge. This charitable event happens once a year; with people from all over the country take part in raising money for Help for Heroes. Help for Heroes is a charity that helps both men and women who have left and those still serving in the armed forces with physical, psychological, financial and welfare support. They also assist their families, as they too can be affected by their loved one’s wounds.

The Malvern Challenge is not a race, but is a test of stamina for all ages and abilities. The 18km long walk takes, on average, around 6 hours to complete and this year had over 500 people (and their dogs) taking part. Along with all the additional fundraising the Malvern Challenge has undertaken this year, the event has raised nearly £24,000.

Tony from The Malvern Challenge said, “Thanks to you and other sponsors we covered very nearly all our costs this year, and this has been one of the key reasons we have been able to raise so much for the charity – Thank you, we really couldn’t do this without your support”

The event featured some special appearances from ram Private Derby (mascot for the Mercian regiment), as well as a spectacular Spitfire fly-by from RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

WHC is proud to support such a wonderful cause and will be looking forward to helping again next year on the 17th of September 2022.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s challenge.
