WHC Hire Services Adds Single Person Portaloos To Its Growing Welfare Range

Following the introduction of portable welfare solutions back in 2021, WHC Hire Services is delighted to announce it has extended its offering with single-person portaloos.

Over the years our welfare range has grown steadily, starting with 6-man mobile welfare units through to larger 10-man options and eco solar solutions. The introduction of single person portaloos fills an important gap for a number of our clients. Built to be compact, they are a quick to deploy option for sites where a full welfare unit is not needed, or where extra capacity is required alongside existing facilities.

The current guidance under BS6465-1:2006 recommends a ratio of one toilet to seven persons where portable toilets are emptied once a week.

Each unisex portaloo is fully self-contained and can be sited on any firm, level ground. There is no need for permanent connections or extensive groundworks, which means units can be positioned quickly and moved on just as easily once a job is complete. Units also come equipped with cold hand washing facilities, supporting good hygiene standards on site. This makes them a highly adaptable option across a wide range of scenarios.

Building and construction sites benefit from having facilities close to the work, cutting down on time lost travelling to and from other welfare provisions. Event organisers get a straightforward way to scale depending on requirements, whether that is a single unit to support event staff or a number of units to accommodate larger crowds at festivals, sporting spectacles or small local fetes.

Before being able to offer this solution, WHC Hire made a significant further investment into the support and management of welfare facilities. Now in 2026, WHC runs its own servicing and maintenance department for welfare units across the country. Whether that is a 6 man welfare unit in the middle of a field or a single portaloo at a local event, our in house team delivers the same high standards that the company has built its reputation on.

We know that requirements change from site to site and from one week to the next. Single man portaloos give site managers and event organisers a quick, low-fuss way to scale facilities up or down without compromising on standards or compliance.

MD James Clutterbuck said: “Since first introducing welfare solutions to our range over five years ago, we immediately saw huge demand for more flexible solutions, especially from the smaller contractors and growing event organisers we serve. But before making any investment, the key was to make sure we had the team behind it to support it. In 2026, we now have our own dedicated welfare servicing team who attend weekly to clean and restock essentials such as toilet roll and hand soap. Taking the service fully in house has allowed us to deliver the same quality and care that our reputation has been built on over nearly 30 years. These new units sit alongside our existing welfare fleet to give sites exactly the provision they need, whether that is a single unit or multiple. It is all part of our commitment to making sure our customers get the right equipment to support their project.”

These new portaloos are available for hire now from all three WHC Hire depots in Tewkesbury, Worcester and Chipping Norton.
