WHC Make It 9 Consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards
WHC Hire Services is proud to announce that it has received its 9th consecutive Gold Medal Award from the internationally recognised Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). This achievement reflects the company’s continued commitment to maintaining and advancing outstanding health and safety practices.
This year is a landmark one for the scheme, as 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards. What began as a small event in London to recognise organisations prioritising the safety of their workers has grown into one of the biggest and most prestigious health and safety awards programmes in the world. This year’s awards attracted around 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries.
Open to both competitive and non-competitive entries across a wide range of industry sectors, the RoSPA Awards give organisations the chance to stand alongside global leaders in creating safer, healthier workplaces. Each entry is assessed on the organisation’s overall health and safety management systems, including leadership, risk control, workforce involvement, and long-term commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.
Safety sits at the heart of everything WHC Hire does, for our own teams and for our clients. Our fleet is inspected in detail by qualified in-house engineers, lifting equipment is subject to LOLER inspections, and our experienced in-house HGV team is trained to load and secure machinery for safe transport. This commitment to safe transport is backed by our patented Track Lock excavator trailer system, which has covered more than 14 million miles over the last 10 years without a major incident occurring during usage.
Our delivery teams also offer operators a brief demonstration on delivery, so they feel confident using the equipment from the moment it arrives. Together, these steps help businesses operate more safely and efficiently.
Additionally, WHC Hire Services’ award-winning QR-enabled digital self-help system provides instant assistance for the most common queries we receive about specific pieces of equipment. This innovation is further evidence of our commitment to ensuring that every operator of our equipment returns home safe after a day’s work.
MD James Clutterbuck said, “We’ve done it again! Another year, another RoSPA award, and this one is extra special as it’s the 9th in a row, in the scheme’s 70th anniversary year. Ever since I started the business back in 1997, my goal has been to create an environment where safety comes first, so that every member of the WHC Hire team goes home to their families safe and well at the end of each day. That extends to our DIY and contract clients too. Delivering the equipment our clients need is only part of what we stand for. What we really pride ourselves on is setting world-leading health and safety standards. I’m so proud of the environment and service we’ve built, and we’re committed to continuing to raise the bar across the industry.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, said: “RoSPA congratulates WHC Hire Services on their RoSPA Health and Safety Award. The high standards WHC Hire Services, has achieved are the result of hard work and dedication, of which WHC Hire Services should be rightfully proud and which RoSPA is delighted to honour. 2026 is a landmark year for the RoSPA Awards as we reflect on how far workplace safety has come in 70 years. It is because of the commitment of health and safety leaders like WHC Hire Services that people today are safer at work than in the past, and sets an inspiring example for the future.”
