80 Roller

View Transcript

Hello everyone and welcome back to our roller series and in today’s video we’re going to cover all the operational checks that you should be doing for this Bomag 80 roller from WHC Hire.

Let’s get started by doing a full visual check of the machine and here is what to look out for. So we’re going to start at the front of the machine with the reflectors and also the headlights to ensure they’re in good working condition.

Also we need to do double check is the scraper bar while lifting this up and making sure there is no debris in the way of the roller.

Once you’ve done that you can close that up and you can move around to the side of the roller. Now coming to the front drum we need to ensure that it’s in good working condition there’s no damage in and around in the body and that there are no leakages from any of the hoses the water suppression system or any hydraulic fluid.

Once you are satisfied we can move further backwards checking that our exhaust is clear and then we can move on to the articulation point.

Come with me. Now this is your articulation point of the Bomag 80. And we need to check that the rams aren’t leaking and make sure they’re in good working condition. When the machine is running we’ll be able to do our final checks of this, but as a visual check if there’s no leakages we’re all good to go.

Let’s move further around to the back of the machine. Now we’ve got our rear drum, same again double check the hoses and also make sure there’s no leakages or any damage to the body work.

Let’s pop round to the rear so we can do our final checks there including our second scraper bar.

Right so here we are we’ve got our reflectors we’ve also got our two headlights and the second scraper bar which is underneath here. You can lift up double-check that’s nice and clear as well.

Once you’re happy with that you can lower that down and we’re going to jump up to check out the ROPS bar. And here we have the ROPS bar and we need to double check this is in good working order, no damage is done to it and it is locked and secured in position correctly with the pins that are provided.

This bar is essential for the safety of the operator so we must ensure it’s in perfect working order if your ROPS bar is not in working order you need to get in contact with your local WHC Hire depot immediately before operation.

Now once you’re happy that the ROPS is in good working order we’re going to pop around the other side of the machine, check out the two drums before moving on to our fluids and our levels checks.

And just finishing up here on the front drum, what we’ve done now is we’ve just gone all over the body, double checked all the hoses on the other side of the machine on both the drums. And now we’re ready to move on to our fluids and levels checks which we’ll find under the Bonnet of the machine.

Come with me. So as we open up the bonnet of the machine it’s going to expose the whole engine to us. Now on your side closest to you we’ve got a hydraulic fluid that can be filled here and is red just down the bottom here.

Then we’ve got our air filter. The filler fuel cap just on the left hand side of the machine. Coming over to the middle we’ve got our oil filler. And on the right hand side of the machine we’ve got our oil dip stick and engine coolant.

Now once all these levels are adequate and you’re happy with them we can just reclose the bonnet and lock it securely in place.

Now in addition to your fuel levels you want to double check your water suppression system which you’ll find on the left hand side of your operator seat. This is the fuel filler cap that you can fill here.

And on under the right hand side of the operator seat is the fuel level. So now we’ve done our fluids checks, we’ve done our levels checks, and also we’ve done our visual checks of the machine.

All we’ve got left to do is our final safety checks which to do we need to jump ourselves into the cabin using three points of contact. You’ll find a handlebar on the left hand side of the control panel and also on the right hand side of the operator seat.

Now once you’re immediately in the machine you can double check that the safety belt works. Pop that in one side and then give it a good tug to ensure that it’s working correctly.

To do our final checks we need to pop the electrics of the machine on, so we need to open up our cockpit, pop our key into the machine and turn it to position one.

From here we can turn on our beacons to ensure that they’re flashing correctly as they are above me and we can double check our headlights are working as well.

Please note that the machine will not move without the seatbelt being engaged correctly. Compliance is shown by the green beacon illuminating on the top of the ROPS bar.

Now the machine is safe and ready to use. If you come into any problems whilst doing any of these checks you should be sure to contact your local WHC Hire depot as soon as possible so we can sure the machinery is safe for you to use before operating it.

Now you’ve completed all your safety checks, you can either exit the machine using three points of contact or you can continue on and start the machine by following the tutorial that we have on our resource centre.

And there you go, everyone, there is the pre-operational start checks for one of our Bomag 80 rollers available here at WHC Hire.

Like I said before, if you come into any problems whilst doing any of these checks you need to get in contact with your local WHC Hire depot so we can ensure the machinery is safe for you to use.

Thank you ever so much for joining me, for more information for more videos and tutorials on this machine feel free to scan the QR code that’s attached to the machine, or find more information on our website. But until the next video take care and bye-bye for now.
