How To Operate Auxiliary Hydraulics 8T Excavator (Kubota KX085-5)
8T Excavator

Hello everyone and welcome back to our excavator series and in today’s video I’m going to take you through absolutely everything you need to know about operating auxiliary hydraulics on this 8 Tonne excavator. We’re going to go through how to couple up properly, how to depressurize, how to select the right attachment on your onboard computer, and the controls to operate the attachment. Let’s get started.
To get started we need to couple up the hoses of our attachment you can follow the same process for either a single or dual flow attachment on this 8T excavator.
First we need to position the attachment and the boom in a position where we can reach the auxiliary hoses. For best results extend the boom out and the arm as far as possible and lower the attachment to the floor. Now with the machine still on, key off with your left hand armrest down.
Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to key on to position one, with that left arm armrest down. Okay that’s going to load up our onboard computer. Once that’s loaded up, we’re going to select our auxiliary output which is on your right hand pilot control. We just hit that once and then we’re going to rock both the auxiliary toggle switches, which are on the left and right pilot controls. That’s going to vent all of the pressure in the auxiliary circuits. And then for the hydraulic circuits, we’re just going to rock both the pilot controls.
Now the machine is ready for you to couple up your attachment. Okay round to your attachment we’re just going to unravel our hoses and couple up to the auxiliary outputs that you’re going to find on the arm of the excavator. It’s always best to start with the big ones first, which are on the bottom. Just pop them in and push upwards until they click into place.
And then just twist the lock to ensure they’re secure then repeat the process on the other side of the machine. Now that your attachment is coupled up correctly we can jump ourselves into the cockpit and we can go over how to select the right attachment on your onboard computer and how to operate it. Follow me.
Okay just jumping back into our excavator using three points of contact and before we start using anything let’s pop that seat belt on. Okay let’s start the engine as normal and to select the attachment that you’ve just coupled up,we go onto our onboard computer, and over to the auxiliary settings, jump into mode select, and scroll down to the appropriate attachment. This one which is a grab using the dual flow is our mode select number four. So we just select that. So that is our auxiliary setup on our machine.
Now when we’re ready to use our attachment we just engage the hydraulics by dropping our left arm armrest. Position the attachment where you’d like to use it, engage the attachment by pushing the attachment button on the right-hand pilot control. And then to operate, we use the left and right toggle switches on the pilot controls. Auxiliary 2 on the left-hand pilot control on this attachment controls the spinning of the grab. Auxiliary one which is on the right-hand pilot control operates the opening and the closing of it.
Remember that alternative attachments will require different flow rates which you can adjust on your onboard computer.
Now when you are finished with using your attachment and you want to uncouple it maybe go back to a bucket or maybe a different attachment. What we need to do is depressurize the system. So as we did before, we’re going to lay the attachment down. Key off the machine and then we’re going to restart the machine turning the key to position one with the left hand armrest down as
we did before. Just let the onboard computer load up hit the auxiliary attachment button on the right-hand pilot control. And then as we did before we’re going to vent the circuits starting with the auxiliary one by doing the toggle switches on both pilot controls.
And then the hydraulic circuits by rocking the joysticks. Now all that pressure is out of the circuits we can easily detach the hoses.
If you’ve followed this sequence step by step getting these hoses off shouldn’t be a problem at all. All you need to do is make sure that the bubble lines up with the lock on the auxiliary output and simply lift up, and the hose will come off. As easy as that.
Now after this make sure that you wrap these hoses up ready for transportation or storage. And exactly the same on the other side of the boom. Just make sure if you got any problems trying to get these off make sure that the lock lines up with the little bubble that you’ll see. And as easy as that they’ll come off.
And there you go team that’s exactly how you couple and uncouple one of these attachments on an 8-ton excavator from WHC Hire. Now if you come into any more problems whilst conducting this process then please feel free to reach out to your local for more assistance.
